You may know these as Lemoyne Star, Wacky Web, Spider Web, Periwinkle, Star and more....

Whatever you call them, they've been around forever and are back again! Here are just a few ideas for them:
The 5" is perfect for Mug Rugs. Cut 6 and stitch longs sides together to form the top. Place right sides on a larger square with some batting and stitch together. Trin and snip then turn right sides out. Fun mug rug and great way to use up those scraps!
Do the same with larger sizes to make fun table toppers but cut 8 instead of 6.
Add a crinkle material as a layer and ribbon tags along the edges before turning to make Taggie Toys or little Play Mats for babies.
Leave sewn pieces flat or stuff to make fun pillows - especially for kids.
To make a Teething Toy, use the 10" Lemoyne to cut a back and front out of cute baby fabrics. Stitch together and turn right sides out. Add a Wooden Ring (listed with my Teething Ring Template) at the longer thin end then fold and stitch down. Done!

If you've tried to make these, they might not have matched up to form a uniform 'circle'. And you probably HAD to add a circle or something in the center to cover up the inconsistencies. You can still add a center piece as it makes a fun embellishment but you might not have to. For best results, use a 1/4" Piecing Foot to make sure seams are consistent.

When I created these, it took a while to figure out the angles and the math but I found starting with a SQUARE made the difference. The Top and Top Left will be 90 degrees. Check out the pics to see what I mean.

You'll notice the templates are just shy of the measurement labeled in case purchased Fabric Pre-Cuts are not exact or were cut with pinked edges.

You'll find starting with fabric squares or strips will make cutting easier and faster. If you own Layer Cakes (10") and Charms (5") and even Jelly Rolls (2.5" strips) then you're set! If using scraps, Square Templates are really helpful. When cutting WOF (width of fabric), my 24" Rulers are invaluable! These aren't necessary but provide additional support especially when cutting multiples.
