Perfect for all your little Doo Dads & Ditties!

If you're familiar with my Ditties, these cute little baskets are a big hit!

What's new?  Lots!!!

1.      Changes to Sizes:

  • a.      Original 7.75" now 8" x 8"
  • b.      Original 8.5" is now 9" x 9"
  • c.       Original 9.25" is now 10" x 10"

2.      Additional Sizes: 11" x 11", 12" x 12"

3.      New Styles:  Currently available in Squares but Rectangles & Trays will be coming soon!

Why the change in size?  Originals were 3/4" apart in size.  This allowed fabric baskets to nest down inside each other.

But now, you'll see there’s a 1" difference in size.  Why?!

Pet Screen Ditties!

Darla made 3 Ditties (pics coming soon!) with Pet Screen Mesh, Fabric and Tape Measures at the top. Pet Screen Mesh isn’t as flexible as fabric so they don’t nest as nicely.  The new 1" difference will allow them nest better.

Darla and her sister, Karen just filmed a video showing how easy these are to make.  It's also coming soon!

What else is new?!

  • Video from me (coming soon!)
  • Video from Darla and her sister, Karen (coming soon!)

My video shows how easy it is to make a fabric Ditty Basket.  I also show the new sizes plus the 2 new styles.

Darla and Karen’s video shows making the Ditty using Pet Screen, fabric plus 4 pieces of cut and taped measuring tape.  Here’s some of what you’ll see:

·         Pet screen cut with the Ditty Template to make the base.

·         Fabric sewn to each of the 4 edges to create a 'casing'.

·         From a measuring tape, 4 pieces cut and taped to go into the fabric 'casings'.

·         A strip of fabric sewn 'binding style' finishes off pet screen raw edges inside of the basket.

As with all of my Templates, the No Slip Backing makes cutting a delight! Everything is accurate & easy.

Template Cut Marks make it easy to cut out with your rotary cutter going right into the inside corners - allowing for clean cuts!

What you’ll see in the pics:

·         My 3 Ditty Baskets using the same geometric fabric for bobbins, threads, etc.

·         Three gorgeous Ditty Baskets filled with beautiful lace bookmarks made by Pam Neal. Beautiful!

·         Cute Ditty Baskets from Joni Londo in fun fabrics!

What do you do with a Ditty Basket?

·         Hold bobbins, buttons, threads, etc.

·         Just the right size for office - paper clips, sticky notes, coins, etc.

·         Perfect for little one’s little things!

·         Place cash or a gift card at the bottom of the Ditty then fill with candy or treats. It’s the perfect gift!

·         Nest the baskets to make a nice gift.

I don't usually post 'finished sizes' for projects because seam allowances and stabilizer choices can make a big difference.

But, I've had requests so here are my finished sizes for the original Ditty Basket samples.

The Original Templates in 3 Nested Sizes:

  • 7.75" x 7.75" (approx. finished size - 2 1/2" wide at bottom; 2 1/2" tall)
  • 8.5" x 8.5" (approx. finished size 3" wide at bottom; 2 5/8" tall)
  • 9.25" x 9.25" (approx. finished size 3 1/8" wide at bottom; 2 7/8" tall)

BTW - I used Pellon Fusible Fleece on the outside quilting cotton layer and SF101 on the light canvas lining fabric with about 1/4" seam allowance.

How to Make:

Check out the basic steps at the bottom. Then watch the videos when they get posted.

For now, see the pics taken during the process.

These are also similar to my Ice Cream Cozy Template so you can check out the video on it below.  You just don’t have points at the ends!

Here’s a breakdown:

  • Fold outer fabric diagonally in half & sew both sides.
  • Then fold in the opposite & sew those sides.
  • Repeat for the lining.
  • Tuck outer fabric into the lining fabric with rights facing & stitch around top leaving ‘almost’ one side unsewn.
  • Turn right sides out.
  • Play with it to make it look nice & press well.
  • Topstitch around, closing opening area as you go.  Couldn’t be easier or faster!

They are the perfect size for those things – and very satisfying to make!
