Get creative with these cute, vintage Camper Templates!  Whether you enjoy camping or glamping, these vintage campers are everywhere – especially at the holidays.  You may have seen this Camper Template. It’s the perfect size for a Pot Holder or Hot Pad.  You could even make an Oven Mitt, or stuff them to make pillows, ornaments or even a door stop!

Now, I’ve added several more sizes to make it even more versatile!

Choose from the following sizes:

Tracing Template – 2.5” x 3.5” 6.99

Ornament – 3.5” x 5” 8.99

Coaster – 5” x 7” 14.99

Mug Rug 7” x 9” 17.99

Pot Holder 8” x 10” 20.99

Although these lend themselves well to kitchen items, don’t limit yourself to just that. You can stuff them for your favorite 2 legged & 4 legged friends! See below for ideas.

They work well as applique, too.  Just add an add iron-on backing to create fun appliques to embellish clothing, pillows, towels, etc.

As with all of my NEW templates, these have my new gray No Slip Backing to make cutting so consistent and easy!

Plus, each template has etchings for windows, a door, the wheel and a hang tag.   Want to see those etchings better? Use one of my Metallic Template Markers or pick up a permanent Metallic Marker that is.

These campers can stitch up quick & easy – or take your time to add embellishments to make really special, fun gifts to share with others!

Go from simple to elaborate:

·        To use with hot items like Coasters, Mug Rugs, Pot Holders, Hot Pads, choose a single fabric for the top, your favorite inner material – 2 layers of batting or Insul-Bright, fusible fleece and more.  Grab another fabric for the backing.  Add a binding or not.  Want to hang it?  Add a hanger.

  • Or swap out the fabric on the back for silver Iron Quick then add binding and a hanger.  Check out my sample to see how easy this would be!
  • Or grab some scraps and do a quick quilt as you go approach for the top.  So fun & you’ll feel good using up your scraps!

·        To get inspired, search the web for “vintage camper sewing ideas” then raid your stash and let your creative juices flow!

  • For decorative items, raid your ‘crafty’ stash. Grab ric-rac, felt, pom poms, lace, ribbon, buttons, scraps & embellishments. Go to town creating your door, windows, curtains, flags & more! Don’t forget the wheel~
  • As cute as these will be, don’t add embellishments that might interfere with a drink staying flat.  Also, if using in the kitchen near hot items, use care when adding anything that might catch fire!

The Tracing Template and Ornament sizes are small but you can use a rotary cutter with this simple shape.  Or trace around with a marking pen then cut with small, sharp scissors. They are perfect for applique projects, too!

I imagine the smaller sizes as Gift Tags for Christmas gifts, Name Tags, and even Place Cards on your dining table.

To go from flat to ‘enhanced’:

  • Add poly-fil stuffing to create dog or kitty toys, pillows, stuffies, etc.
  • Add catnip to create a fun kitty toy.
  • Add a squeaky toy for the pups.
  • Add Christmas scents like cinnamon, all spice, essential oils, etc.  Imagine the smell when you place a hot drink on your coaster or mug rug!
  • Stuff with crushed walnuts, cedar shavings, rice, beans, deer corn, etc.
  • Make them microwaveable by using 100% cotton batting, cotton thread, cotton. These would be perfect for aches & pains, migraines, upset stomachs, etc.  They're perfect to throw in the fridge or freezer, too.
